Overview

The Sea Scout Academy is a Scouting event for Sea Scouts and Venturers with an aquatic and boating emphasis that provides hands-on instruction and activities on swimming, keelboat sailing, dinghy sailing, paddlecraft,and motor boating.

Cost

Event Registration $50, includes all training and meals. 

Campsite fee $30 per tent.

ECSI Blended Wilderness First Aid certification course $75.  Must complete online ECSI Navigate course, about $40.

Golden Dragon ceremony $8. 

Buddy Tags and Swim Tests

Upon arrival, participants will be issued buddy tags.  Units may conduct their own swim tests before arrival, but must submit the Unit Swimming Certification when registering or arriving at check-in. Swim tests will NOT be available at Ft. Monroe.

Participants must present their buddy tag to the Waterfront Supervisor at the activity location when participating in ANY boating or swimming activity.  Buddy boards will be maintained by the Waterfront Supervisor. Participants are expected to follow Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat rules, including keeping buddies.

Lifejackets

Many activities will require that participants wear lifejackets.  The participant is responsible for bringing their own USCG approved and properly fitted wearable lifejacket.  Type III jackets are appropriate, inflatable PFDs are not recommended.
