Rank Advancement

The Boy Scout plans his advancement and progresses at his own pace as he meets each challenge. He is rewarded for each achievement, which helps him gain self-confidence. The steps in the advancement system help a Boy Scout grow in self-reliance and in the ability to help others.

The following resources provide additional information for the Scout about advancement. Links are provided to materials that are available online:

Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review

The Scoutmaster conference allows the Scoutmaster to review the scout’s growth in his understanding of Scouting’s ideals and how he applies these ideals in his daily life and in the troop while the Board of Review allows a periodic review of the progress of a scout.

The Scoutmaster Conference (SCM) and Boards of Review (BOR) take place the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month and Scout must be in field uniform (Class A).

  • SCM’s are coordinated with the Scoutmaster.
  • BOR’s must be coordinated through the Advancements Coordinator.

NOTE: SCM’s and BOR’s may not be concurrent (take place on the same day)
