The concept of the Boy Scouts of America was brought to the United States from England in 1910 and has recently celebrated its centennial anniversary. This organization has evolved to become one of the world’s most successful for boys. While offering the opportunity for character development, leadership training, and physical development is coupled in with the atmosphere of fun and fellowship. Troop 870 is a unit in the Baltimore Area Council and functions as a part of the Four Rivers District that encompasses the upper two thirds of Anne Arundel County Maryland.
Like most organizations, Troop 870 has set forth policies that govern the functionality of the troop. This is all overseen by the Troop Committee and the Troop Charter Organization Representative. Our Committee is comprised of registered adults who serve as the policy making body, the fundraising core, and most importantly secure the services of the Scoutmasters. The Charter for the program is provided by Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Pasadena, Maryland; wherein they provide the facilities for us to meet and the Charter Organization Representative who is the registered adult that serves as the liaison between the two entities.
